FMKJ is a networked centre for doctoral research that organizes PhD students who are associated with degree-awarding member institutions. Enrolment as a PhD student thus occurs within the universities, after which one may become a member of FMKJ.
Fellowships from the Humanities Research Council (FKK) must be sought through a centre for doctoral research. If one wishes to submit an application to FKK for a fellowship within FMKJ’s scope, the application is to be made through FMKJ, and it will then be evaluated, sorted, and forwarded to FKK. FMKJ’s application deadline usually falls at the end of June, and the fellowships are announced on the first of May.
